Vancouver Spurs – President’s Report for Season 2021/22

19th July 2022

Hello All,

Well, there is no doubt this season has been extraordinary again as we transitioned to a new home pub and battled through the pandemic restrictions and ended up in the Champions League!

The Lennox did a ‘soft’ opening for us to allow us to start the season with a pub and in our new home; there is no doubt that the season has been challenging with the pub having technical issues and also lower attendances due to the pandemic; but is was also great to see as the season progressed new faces coming to the pub and that had shown to continue with many new members joining for this upcoming season … welcome!

Vancouver Spurs and The Lennox ownership have had some very candid discussions to draw a line under last season and improve the experiences for Vancouver Spurs for this coming season. With a few possible exceptions, we will not be using the upstairs section, but the main bar and you will see more Spurs memorabilia permanently up on the walls this season; as well as the return of our game day scarves and flags!

Also, The Lennox will also be helping to promote Vancouver Spurs more this coming season and want to support a Legends event before the end of the season, which the current executive is already working on with an aim for this to take place in the Spring of 2023.

Our treasurers’ reports provide a status of where we are and now have a basis of operations / budget for us to work with which meets the terms and conditions of Tottenham Hotspur for an official supporter’s club as a not for profit organization and also what the executive needs to plan as a budget for each season.

On a personal note, as we took the Vancouver Spurs supporters group from being a chapter of a national club to an official Supporters club locally and continued to grow. It has been a pleasure to serve as the inaugural President of Vancouver Spurs, and albeit I will still be involved I am stepping back. I thank the current executive and look forward to supporting the new Executive and President in this exciting upcoming season and thank you all for your kind words and messages.

A personal thanks to Pauline King, who is stepping down from the executive for all her support and commitment and keeping me in check and on point in meeting! Her experience in other not-for-profits has been invaluable in setting up the core foundations of the club properly and professionally.

Finally, a thank you to all those who’ve supported the club this season and I call upon you all to consider helping us make the club better for all of us, many hands make light work. Whether on the executive, a member at large or bringing your skills to help or volunteer for projects and event support.

Come on you Spurs!

Bill Daniel
